NORTH CENTRAL WORKFORCE BOARD
OUR STORY
The MassHire North Central Massachusetts Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (MNCWB), established in 1979, is a private 501(c)3 non-profit corporation designated by the Governor to serve as the Local Workforce Board for the North Central Massachusetts Workforce Region under the new Federal Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act.
The MNCWB is responsible for the policy development and oversight of state and federal funds for the purposes of workforce development initiatives in the region.
The North Central Workforce Board:
- Is made up of 29 board members nominated and appointed by the Lead Elected Official on behalf of the communities that make up the North Central Region: Ashburnham, Ashby, Athol, Ayer, Barre, Berlin, Bolton, Clinton, Devens, Fitchburg, Gardner, Groton, Harvard, Hubbardston, Lancaster, Leominster, Lunenburg, Pepperell, Princeton, Royalston, Shirley, Sterling, Templeton, Townsend, Westminster, and Winchendon.
- Serves as the expert of the strategic vision for workforce development.
- Engages and builds the capacity of stakeholders including funders, the K-12 and higher education system, career centers, employers, and community partners to support the delivery of excellent workforce services.
- Addresses critical labor market issues and implements crucial programs for the region’s economic well-being.
